Natural remedies can be effective in dealing with arthritis. Try the following remedies at home to see if they work for you:

Rose Hip
This herb relieves pain and strengthens the ligaments and body tissue.

Garlic
Garlic works for almost everything. Make garlic paste and either eat it or apply to the affected part. This can relieve joint pains and increase bone strength.

Potato Juice
This is considered to be effective in treating arthritic and rheumatic conditions. Cut the potato into slices and place them in a vessel filled with water at night. Do not peel the potato. Drink the water first thing in the morning when the stomach is empty. You can also try fresh potato juice.

Raw Juice
One glass of juice, taken from green leafy vegetables and mixed with red beet, celery or carrot juice is recommended. The raw juice dissolves accumulated deposits around tissues and joints. You can also try pineapple juice, as it contains the substance bromelain, which reduces inflammation and swelling in rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis patients.

Sesame Seeds
Soak a small quantity of sesame seeds overnight in water. Drink the water and ingest the seeds when you wake up in the morning. This is known to prevent frequent joint pains.

Copper
Store water in a copper vessel at night and drink it in the morning. This is known to strengthen muscles as the water contains copper traces.

Calcium
Take 400 milligrams (mg) of calcium lactate three times a day with water, for a few months. This should be done before meals. Studies have revealed that calcium helps relieve arthritic condition.

Bananas
These contain vitamin B6 which is good for treating arthritis. Try a diet of only bananas (eight or nine a day) for a period of three to four days.

Does Water Exercise Help Arthritis Sufferers?

Water exercise is helpful for arthritis patients as their painful joints may be able to bear exercise in a swimming pool. Water exercise is recommended by The Arthritis Foundation as it increases endurance, strengthens joints and keeps them mobile and promotes circulation. Exercising in water has a low impact, allowing movement without any obvious discomfort.

Water cushions painful joints, preventing further damage. So exercising in water is preferable for arthritis patients compared with exercising on land. Water naturally resists movement, therefore muscles and joints are strengthened when they move against the water.

Recreation and fitness centers and health clubs conduct aqua arthritis classes. Qualified instructors lead these classes in the swimming pool. The group activity promotes socializing and enthusiasm and is an excellent way to have fun while treating your arthritic condition. Some health clubs also offer whirlpools, which are a great therapy for painful muscles and joints. Before starting water exercise consult your doctor.

Water Aerobics

Try the following steps to see if water aerobics improves your arthritis:

Step 1
The water temperature should be between 82 to 88 degrees Fahrenheit. This makes the exercise comfortable by relieving pain. Temperatures below or above may cause discomfort.

Step 2
Warm up first to loosen stiff joints. Sit on the poolside and rotate your ankles in a circular fashion. Reverse this motion after some time. Then, enter the water and stretch gently. Bend and straighten the knees and arms. The warm up should be for about five minutes.

Step 3
Do the aerobic part of the exercise slowly. Aerobics increases the heart and breathing rates. Exercising in water is more strenuous, but since water displaces about 90% of the body weight, there is little stress on the muscles, bones or joints of the arthritis patient.

Step 4
If you cannot swim, exercise in the shallow portion of the pool. Do leg swings, running, jogging and walking backwards.

How Cinnamon Twigs Help in Arthritis?

Cinnamon twigs can relieve arthritic pain caused by cold and dampness. This pain usually shows up as soreness in the joints and limbs. In Chinese traditional medicine, cinnamon twigs (Guizhi) are highly rated as they repel cold factors, warm the channels and stop pain.

Cinnamon twig goes by the pharmaceutical name Ramulus Cinnamoni. Its botanical name is Cinnamonum cassia Presl. The herb has diuretic, antitussive, antipyretic, anticonvulsive and analgesic effects. It is often used for common cold with fever and headaches. It is also helpful for those who suffer from spontaneous sweating, superficial or slow pulse or aversion to cold wind.

Chinese Arthritic Remedy With Cinnamon Twigs
You can also try the following Chinese arthritic remedy with cinnamon twigs. Boil 30 grams of fresh ginger with 20 grams of cinnamon twigs. The water should cover the spices. The boiling should continue till the water is reduced to half the original level. Drink a cup of the mixture three times daily. Cinnamon has a warming effect. This mixture is helpful in winter, as the cold weather worsens rheumatic pain.

The tender branches of the cinnamon twigs are obtained in spring or summer. These are dried and sliced. Then, herbal decoctions are prepared, sometimes with other herbal recipes. The herb should be avoided by people exhibiting heat signs including throat problems and dry mouth. Patients with menorrhagia and pregnant women should be cautious while using the herb. Since cinnamon twigs may increase heat, they should not be used to treat warm febrile diseases.
