Everyone loves the sun when summer hits. Not everybody loves the sunburns caused by the fun days out at the beach or chilling in a pool in your backyard. Getting burnt out in the sun can be helped when proper protection is applied. Try these tips for a sun burn free day!

Use sunscreen – By using sunscreen that is water resistant will help drastically when out at the beach or water park. The best sunscreen to use has a rating of SPF15 or higher. Always remember to,

  • Use on dry skin only
  • At minimal – applied 15 minutes before going outside
  • Reapply after swimming or sweating a lot

When out for a normal days length the amount of 1 ounce should cover you. You can apply more if you feel you need it though applying too much will just result in having to buy another bottle at the end of the day.

Use Lip Balm – Often times the lips become chapped due to them becoming dry from the exposure to the suns rays. Lip balms such as Zilatin, Blisstex, or Carmex will be the best. They contain

  • SPF 15 or higher
  • Are water resistant
  • Non greasy
  • Long lasting and are medicated

Wearing Wide Hats – Some may look tacky where as others provide to be very attractive. Wearing hats will help prevent

  • Burning of the scalp
  • Prevents coarse, brittle and split ends of the hair
  • Additional protection for the face, shoulders, and neck

You can also sit in the shade and apply sunscreen for the hair if you do not wish to wear a hat. With these summer skin care tips you should never have to worry about turning red if you fall asleep to the caressing sounds of the waves.
