Electrolysis Hair Removal
Electrolysis hair removal was developed over 100 years ago and is still today a great way to permanently remove hair except for spots in the ears, on moles, and in the nose. The operation consists of a needle that is inserted into the hair follicles which is then followed by an electrical pulse that travels through the needle. The result is the treated hair follicles will not grow again.
There are three basic types of electrolysis hair removal:
- Galvanic – An electro-chemical current
- Thermolysis – A heat current
- Blend – An electro-chemical reaction; a combination of the Galvanic and Thermolysis methods.
People who have pace makers, pregnant, or IUD’s, should not undergo a Galvanic or Blend electrolysis treatment.
Common side effects of electrolysis includes:
- Slight pain
- Redness
- Sometimes swelling.
- Scabs appearing from an infection or scarring.
It is also possible for darker skin types to get spots on the treated area. They mostly are not permanent and range in color from white to a dark brown. Electrolysis may be painful depending on how thick the hair is and the area of the hair. Anesthetics can be administered but with an increased cost. Most people undergo electrolysis after they have Laser Treatments done to remove hair. Laser treatments normally will leave some hair behind due to FDA regulations.
Undergoing electrolysis takes money, time, and a lot of energy. Since electrolysis takes quite a bit of time, it may be difficult for some people to endure the discomfort associated with electrolysis. Most treatments are $45 to $125 hourly. It is a great way to remove hair if you wish to have a small amount removed, the time, and money to get the job done.
