5 Different Skin Types

There are many different skin types and it is important that you know what yours is, so that any treatment you choose will be effective. There are 5 different skin types: Normal, Dry, Oily, Combination, and Sensitive.

Normal Skin
Normal Skin is fine, even, and has a smooth texture. There is an even balance between the oils and moisture found in the skin. The pores are fine and can hardly be seen. This skin type should be treated very lightly when it come to treatments.

Dry Skin
Dry skin looks parched, tends to flake and it’s very easy to get wrinkles. Due for the lack of ability to retain moisture and production of sebum, it often times creates problems in cold weather, plus the skin “ages’ faster than other types. Protecting this type of skin is of the utmost importance. Keeping it moist both day and night is a good start.

Oily Skin
This type of skin is the result of too much sebum on the skin, which collects dirt and dust-particles in the air. Oily skin has problems with black and white heads, spots, this skin will never be “clear”. Make sure to clean this type of skin thoroughly.

Combination skin
This is the most common skin type of all and is made up of both oily and dry skin features. Normally the greasy parts of the face are the nose, chin, and forehead, whereas the dry areas are the cheeks, places close to the mouth and eyes. This skin type should be treated with treatments like oily and dry skin in the proper areas.

Sensitive skin
Sensitive skin has problems with any climate change and is made up of a fine texture. This type of skin will show when a person waxes or bleaches it and is also very prone to sunburns.
