Nifty Tips On How To Brush Long Hair
June 21st, 2007
When brushing long hair you should bend at the waist so the hair falls naturally. You should only brush hair when it is dry and never wet. When the hair is wet you should be very careful with it because that is when it is the frailest. Brushing hair when it is wet will only cause damage and ultimately lead to a crew cut. When the hair is dry, first use a comb and then move to brushing.
- You should only use wooden brushes with natural bristles.
- Start by brushing from the start of the neck on down and then move to the top of the head.
- After the brush feels as if it is moving freely, stand up and allow the hair to fall normally.
- Brush the underside down to the tips.
- After doing this for 3 or more minutes, brush the top layers using long even strokes.
- While doing this, smooth the hair out with your other hand to help prevent static buildup.
- You should slowly increase your stroke amount weekly.
- Start with 5 strokes and you should increase this amount by one each week until it becomes a more comfortable repetition; almost like second nature.
- If oil starts to build up, reduce the amount of strokes.
Once these tips are in place, you should have no problem keeping long and beautiful hair spectacular looking, and you’ll know exactly how long to brush long hair, no matter if it gets damaged or grows longer.
